This position performs a wide variety of regular and recurring, moderately complex accounting functions, which include preparing, reconciling, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records. Incumbents are also responsible for preparing financial statements and supporting various accounting functions.
Prepares month-end journal entries and assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements. Also performs a general review of departmental financial statements, documenting reasons for significant variances between actual and budgeted amounts, and prepares charts and graphs for inclusion with the monthly financial statements.
Manages company’s fixed asset system, assists in the preparation of lead sheets for external auditors, and performs bank statement and general ledger account reconciliations.
Investigates discrepancies and other areas of concern regarding financial information and recommends corrective actions.
Develops and recommends effective financial controls and monitoring systems, provides accounting support/assistance to all departments during the budgeting process, and works on special accounting projects as assigned.
Provides functional backup for other finance functions as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline, preferably with an emphasis in Accounting. An associate’s degree in Accounting along with 2-4 years of experience in financial statement preparation and financial analysis may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Must have demonstrated professional knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices at an intermediate level.
Must have strong organizational skills along with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Must have the ability to set priorities, be flexible, and handle multiple, detailed tasks efficiently. Must also be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
