Accurately generate and report the financial transactions and position of the company consistent with GAAP, company policies and procedures, and tax law. Assist with monthly accounting procedures and auditing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain General Ledger and Accounting System
Generate monthly closing journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
Monthly revenue reconciliation between Accounting and Commission Systems.
Maintain & reconcile GL schedules monthly.
Generate & maintain monthly commission accrual for sales staff.
Maintain and updates fixed asset software and reconcile to GL.
Manage A/R function for monthly client invoicing.
Perform weekly check-runs or one offs as needed.
Learn bank account reconciliation process as back up for team.
Tax & Audit
Perform annual property tax filing.
Calculates and files local Revenue/Sales tax.
Work directly with audit firm during companyâ™s annual audit and annual tax returns preparation.
In partnership with Accounting Director, develop audit procedures to ensure accurate reporting of financial position.
General Accounting duties
Support the department in various projects or accounting tasks as assigned.
Perform back-up/cross trained on all accounting functions.
Perform peer review tasks within the department as required for appropriate internal compliance and controls.
Maintain files and schedules throughout the year to prepare for annual audit.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelorâ™s degree in business, accounting, or finance required. Licensed CPA strongly preferred.
Experience: At least two years of professional experience in accounting or finance roles, and familiarity with GAAP. Other combinations of work and/or education will be considered.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in use of personal computers, including data entry, word processing, and spread sheet applications. Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel. Previous experience with CPM (corporate performance management) software, specifically with Prophix a plus. Ability to learn and use various accounting applications and various databases and systems within the organization (CRM, ERP, Crystal Reports).
